Sanctuary Cities

About the Project

The project studies sanctuary city policies that allow non-status migrants to access some municipal programs and services without fear of being arrested, detained or removed from the country. This comparative and empirical study aims to fill the knowledge gap of how municipal laws intersect with federal and provincial law and policy, and how the human rights of non-status migrants may be protected. It intends to produce policy recommendations with a view to informing the action of decision makers, civil society organizations and practitioners.
